Where are the Gold Dots?

I’ve been looking for .355 dia. Speer Gold Dot bullets, 90 gr. for my .380 and 124 gr. for my 9mm. No one, that I can find, has them. Some places aren’t even accepting backorders. Seems to me, that in this economy, any company that couldn’t keep it’s product on the shelf would tool up and add shifts to keep up with the demand. There’s buckets of money to be made out here in reloader land.

I can't find Speer bullets anywhere.

I've been trying to get hold of some #4014 Short Barrel .38 Special bullets now for two years.

Heres the likely reason.

ATK owns CCI, Speer, Blazer, Federal, & Estate Cartridge.
Also own RCBS, Outers (including Hoppes), Champion, Simmons, Nitrex, Bushnell, etc.

If you combine all of the above ammo related revenues, along with all other commercial and sporting goods-related revenues, the total contribution to ATK income appears to be less than 10% of ATK’s total business.

I think they are using full production capability now to fill this and other large government contracts, which is a much larger percentage of thier income.

They are afraid to build more factories & buy new equipment to supply an artificial blip in Speer commercial bullets for reloading brought on by the Obama scare hording.

Once it's over, and government contracts run out, I look for them to be back pandering to us reloaders again.

Don't know about Speer but I ordered some 90gr Hornady XTP's for my .380 over 3 weeks ago. I was told about a week, go figure! LM

My department is using their stock of .380 Gold Dots as target ammo. Had a shooting recently that left the range guys shaking their head at GD's performance.

Issue ammo is Win SXT's anyways but I thought it kind of a waste with all the posts of people wanting .380 GD's.

Sportsman's Warehouse actually had a good selection of Speer bullets (GDs too) yesterday. I even found some Gold Dots for .41 mag.
