Oh Hi Oh
Looking for good tried and true sources for recoil springs for my Sigs. I'm a bit confused by options and choices available through some vendors. I don't want anything special, just stock replacement springs. Either I or my computer has the stupids this evening because my seraches are coming up nada. Also, is it typical to replace the guide rod when replacing the recoil spring?

Thanks

Wolff; in fact, I just received some this week for a 226 and 229. Under each SIG model on their website, the factory spring weight for each caliber will be listed. You don't need to replace the rod unless it's damaged. For what model and caliber SIG do you need the springs?

<For what model and caliber SIG do you need the springs?>

Sig 239-9, 239-40 and Sig 245. They don't all need replacements now, but thought I'd keep parts on hand since they get a lot of use at the range. What's the recommended replacement cycle? I've heard different numbers.

Thanks

Hmm, I don't see recoil springs for the 239 listed here:

www.gunsprings.com/SemiAuto/SigArmsNF.html

You might need to go to SIG for those, but the 245 is there. RE replacement, I usually go abt 3k rounds on my 9's in various brands, but I had a recoil spring in 357 SIG-chambered 229 self-destruct in under 1k.

I generally buy all of my springs from Wolff's but I recently ordered some replacement recoil springs for my Sig P-220's and Wolff's springs are vastly different from the factory springs...they are single stranded and a little squirrely to install due to their extra length. I then ordered replacements directly from Sig for about the same price (I think they were 8 bucks apiece) and they are much better quallity...multi-stranded and appear to be a lot tougher and durable. I really like Wolff's stuff so I 'm not trashing them...I just happen to prefer the original Sig springs much more (and at about the same price). I use the Wolff's in my 1911's. If you call Sig Customer Service you can order the springs alone, without all the other stuff listed on their website. They are very helpful.

Is this a trick question? I'm thinking http://www.sigarms.com/

BTW- Yes, Wildalaska, of course you are a pompous ass because you are where most of wish we could be, (except those fellas from Texas... they would never admit it even if it was true). It's most proper, agreed?

Is this a trick question?

Wasn't a trick question at all. I know parts can be had by a lot of third party vendors and springs seem to come in many variations. Just wasn't sure what the best route might be. I called Sig yesterday and placed an order.

Thanks,

Thanks.... I thought maybe I wasn't "getting it". Sig has been good to me with their service and parts orders.

I have one on order from Wolff right now for my 226/.40. If I don't like it I guess I will give Sig a call. Considering their price discrepancy on factory mags, it never occured to me that they would want less than about 50 bucks... :what:
