I have resisted the Glock fanboy thing for a long time. To be honest, the more I look at them, the more I see things to like. I am a 64 year old Viet vet, it takes alot to persuade me.

Around 4-5 weks ago, I shot for my 4th (maybe 5th) time a Glock 17. Ugly as sin! A brick with (square looking) pistol grips.

I'll admit, I like this pistol!! It points well, and shoots POA.

The long story short is... I would like to purchase one of these pistols (G-17, 9mm, no G-22s, I have plenty of .40s in other makes) Gen-2 or Gen-3 preferred.

My question: Is $350.00 an appropriate amount to pay? I'm not looking for a pristine example. Just a solid shooter. I am in the process of building a new AR; so the Glock is just an afterthought.

Thanks for your feedback,

Gunner

$350 for a used Glock G17 is at the low end of the price scale. If you are retired military you can get a new Glock for what most of us pay for a used pistol. LE pistols even come with 3 magazines vs 2 for commercial pistols.

I wouldn't sell my 3rd gen for $350 straight up. I have seen some 2nd gens go for that much in my area but locally $450 is about the average for a 3rd gen, new in box locally comes out to over $550.

My LGS has a G17 Gen 2 for $399. I'll bet they would come down some on it. $350 would be still pretty low for a gun in good shape.
I'm still looking for a beater Glock to toss in the boat all summer. I would spend $200-250. Still haven't found one. I don't even care what caliber.

Good luck. If you end up having the money, shoot for a Gen 4. There are a few improvements that will enhance the experience for you.
