I live in Tallahassee, FL and can not find real blackpowder anywhere. The one place I found blackpowder on the internet was in Maine and you had to order 25 pounds. Any help would be most welcome.

Thanks WLD BILL

Can't get it in the SF Bay Area either, so I ordered mine from Track of the Wolf and shared it with my friends & relatives. 25 lbs between 5 people goes fast. You can always go to a BP site and try to do a group buy.

www.grafs.com is where I get mine. No minimum, though it's best to buy at least a few pounds to offset the $17 HAZMAT fee. Last time I bought there (about a year ago) Elephant was going for $7/LB. I see right now they have Goex for $11/LB. That's still cheaper than the $17/LB I was paying locally when I could in fact even find local black powder.

I heard something a while back about the Elephant powder plant exploding. Anyone else hear that? Wonder if that's why powder prices seem to be going up...

BLACKPOWDER SOLD IN ORLANDO

wldbill, I am told that there are at least two reasonable sources for real BP in Orlando. Got a trip planned there so I can shoot the flintlock I am building here in St. Augustine. Try Bass Pro, and Buffalo Bills. There are some War Of Northern Aggression reinactors in your area that may buy in quantity, if you can find them. Around here, all they have is musket and cannon grades, and they won't share.

:what:

By the way, if we can round up enough BP users in N. Forida we can pool resources and buy enough to get a better price. We would have to find a central place to meet up.

Its getting harder to find BP and I think its because the government is trying to wean shooters off of it by raising costs on dealers through their regulatory powers.

The real gunpowder is an explosive and I think they would rather that we all went to pyrodex or some other lame substitute.

Let me take a peek in my neck of the woods. I'm here in Panama City.

If I do find some you can use it as an excuse to come down here and shoot! :D

We have a great 300 yard range (Gulf Rifle Club) over in Port St Joe. $25.00 a year to join plus you gotta be an NRA member. It's been well worth it to me.

You might try these folks.

Got a Galyans nearby? Bought 2 1-lb cans of Elephant powder just a couple of weeks ago to try out.

I used to get powder at Golden Age Arms in Ashley, OH, but he was "insuranced out" of carrying it awhile back. He's the one who suggested Galyans to me.

Have to drive many miles to the the log cabin shop to get it from here. Sucks. Only use a pound or two a year though.

IT WAS ALL POLITICS

As a dangerous substance, black powder rates low on the scale of everyday items, gasoline, for one. I would far rather sleep with 10 pounds of BP under the bed than a pint of gasoline. This is just another example of politicians trying to convince the voters that they really care about the "little people". I wish I was allowed to cuss on this forum, but @%^&*$%^^, will have to do.:cuss:
