I'm currently looking for replacement wood for my No. 4 mk 1* Enfield. The problem is that, I can't seem to find anyone selling new wood in the original contour rather then a sport configuration. Does anyone have any recommendations? Does no one make replacement stocks for these things?

A bit of advice from a Enfield collector.

Google Enfield forums and ask your question in a Enfield forum where more people would have Enfield stocks.

bigedp51: Actually I've been perusing those sights for the last few days looking for an answer. The general consensus on most seems to be "buy another rifle" if you need new wood. BTW nice array there, to bad I have to be get up early tomorrow.

chalk_2: Gracias.

Thats the problem if you check your link, the fore stocks all have the dreaded ishapore screw.

Try contacting AIM and Century arms they may be selling wall hangers for cheap or if your lucky good stocks.

Enfield rifles in Indian service had a reinforcement screw added, this photo is from the link at Liberty tree posted above. A British or Commonwealth Enfield rifle did not have these screws added.

I recently bought a stock set from Numrich for a No.1 Mk.III I have, I was surprised how nice it was. It's not a "matched" set of wood from the same rifle, but the pieces are all in excellent shape and reasonably clean. Reasonably priced too.

Contact Boyd's Stocks, if you send them an exemplar (your old stock) they can make a new one with your choice of wood/finish. 'Taint cheap, but you will have a beautiful stock:)
