I'm going to add another of my "must haves" to my handgun collection, & I've narrowed it down to either a Spingfield GI .45 or a Hi Power.

I'm leaning towards the Hi Power. I'm not concerning about having "BROWNING" on the slide; unless I would get a really good deal I'll go with an FN. I want the original design - meaning I don't want the DA or SFS trigger. I want the FN equivalent of the Browning MKIII or Standard, in 9MM. I know that CDNN may have some, but I have a couple of local dealers that are very competitive & will go through one of them unless they are way out of line on pricing.

The question is: what model FN should I be asking the dealers about? The FN website(s) don't appear to list the gun (I heard they weren't going to be imported anymore, don't know if that's true or not) & I want to be sure I ask about the correct gun. I'd like polished blue if I can afford it, will go with matte if I have to.

Thanks all......

You want a FN HP-SA. The FN models only come in the matte finish. It's very nice finish by the way, you'll be surprised of the fit and finish of the gun, none better. It's the BHP MKIII, just says FN.

I have an 89 MK III.

I recently picked up one of the HP Compacts from CDNN. It has the same finish as the HP-SA's.

Its not really a matte finish. More like a satin or low gloss. Very nice.

Thank you, Marshall & Coltdriver. With a little luck, in about 1 week I'll have an HP. I've been through a gun buying drought while putting my daughter through college but she graduated a few months ago - the HP will be my first "post tuition" purchase. :)

I love my FM hi-power... and for $300, I couldn't beat it!

Vitamin, I'm sure it's a good pistol & a good value. As this will be more of a collector/novelty piece for me, I really want an FN, or an FN built Browning.

Actually, it will be the first pistol I have ever purchased in 9MM. I have handguns both larger & smaller in caliber, & in fact have one in .40S&W and could buy a Hi Power chambered the same. But the classic HP is a 9MM, & that's what I want to have.

Thanks for the tip on the FM though. You never know - I have more than 1 Makarov & more than 1 1911 - Hi Powers could go the same way.... :what:
