Which of these 10.5" barrels should I choose for my 300BLK build?

I will be using this with my AAC Cyclone suppressor (5/8x24 thread). 10.5" is already determined (on my approved form 1).

AR-Stoner 1 in 8" twist, lightweight contour, matte stainless $220

Rainier Arms UltraMatch (Shilen blank) 1 in 8" twist, 22oz proprietary contour, matte stainless $310

Rainier Arms Match 1 in 8" twist, 22oz proprietary contour, matte stainless $275

Rainier Arms Select 1 in 8.5" twist polygonal, 21oz proprietary contour, matte stainless or black $260

What is a good flash hider choice or when I am not using the suppressor?

Mike

I have the select barrel in 8.5" for my SBR and used this flash hider until my suppressor stamp came in http://www.atomictactical.com/std-300blk-simple-threaded-device-black/

Rainier has great products and even better CS, I have never been disapointed in the handful of interactions Ive had with them.

Im a firm believer in you get what you pay for, why sacrafice quality or worse after you waited all that time for your stamps?

MAS Defense also makes barrels with good reviews on ARFCOM. I picked up an 8" melonited for ~$180. Haven't shot it yet -- still building.

I'm not price conscious at this point in my life. I'm not quite sure what you are getting at as the select is the least expensive of the three Rainier barrels. Are you implying that the Stoner is a bad barrel? Why? Because it is 15% less expensive or other reasons?

I'm concerned that the Select's 1 in 8.5" twist might be a little show for heavy subsonics.

I've had my eye on the UltraMatch but am concerned about availability. When I went to request e-mail notification for the Match and UltraMatch, it told me I was already on the list for the Match. This would have been from when I was last doing research on my 300BLK bulid form late August or early September which would mean that the Match has not been in stock for at least 5 months already!

Mike

PS. Thanks for the Atomic Tactical link. I will research that flash suppressor. I see from that page that PWS and Spike's Tactical also make 10.5" barrels and Daniel Defense makes a 10.3 which is probably close enough for "Gov'ment (paper)Work".

I was looking at both Alpha and MAS -- they were in my price range and both seem to be recommended on other forums. I just went with the vendor that had a barrel in stock after waiting a few weeks. The melonited barrel I received from MAS looks great.

Check out this picture... which box contains the barrel?

Hint -- the little one.

I'm looking for Stainless or Melonite. I don't think chrome lined barrels are very accurate.

Ranier Out of Stock, MAS Out of Stock, Alpha Out of Stock, LMT Out of Stock. Stoner is looking better . . .

Sorry, I should have been a little more clear on the point I was trying to make.

Something that really stuck out to me when I was researching my barrel was that everyone kept mentioning "make sure the threads are concentric to the bore". Rainier had nothing but great feedback both on the quality of their products as well as the service they provide. Im not saying the Stoner barrel is of lesser quality simply because it is cheaper, I was trying to convey the idea that sometimes you have to pay for quality. My apologies for the lack of elaboration, sometimes I forget to put the whole idea down.

The guys at Atomic are great, I stopped in there last time I was home with a buddy as he was having an upper built. Great service and tons of knowledge, the guy that makes the STD is also a local up there and from what I gather a pretty good fellow as well

I may have no choice but to order the Stoner barrel. It gets great reviews with the exception of one guy complaining about burs on the outer edge of the feed ramp (I would have just licked them with a file) and one guy claiming his threads were not concentric. I intend to to mount my suppressor and check concentrically with a drill rod and return it if it is not concentric.

Mike

I did the same thing, purchased two long drill rods one for 223 and the other for 308.

Something else I contemplated during my build was to pick up a barrel that was longer and have it cut down. This way I could ensure that the threads were concentric and I could play with the length of the barrel a little should I choose to do so. Had Rainier not had the barrel I wanted come back in stock when it did that is the route I would have likely gone.

Here are a few more places to try that I just thought of

I have one of Satern's 16" barrels and love it, great CS and they might be able to make you a barrel if you give em a call.
