First thing first. I am old, blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. I have most often used White Out for paper correction on the front blade/sight of my rifles just so I have a chance of seeing the thing. This last rifle I picked up has what I believe to be German Silver blade front sight and when you sight down rifle its like a glowing beacon. Darn I might even hit a target now, not a bulls eye but at least the target.

I know-I know, but for someone with Walker's vision problem, it might help him shoot more. Isn't that the good deed? I have one on my .22 Marlin, and it is deadly at 100 yards, but I have open iron, and a Creedmore peep on my "BP" rifles.

Instead of whiteout, have you tried Testor's fluorescent orange model paint? I have found that the orange is better than a silver or white blade in more light conditions. I ain't quite blind, but it's gettin' close.......

The reason I was using the whiteout is it comes off easy with no residual oils or other binders. At this point I have given thought of getting out a roll of DUCT TAPE and just wrap it around a scope and mount it that way.

Oh yeah, Shultzhaus definately your heart was in the right place, and you gave Walkers210 good advice. I just have an almost pathological aversion to those tru-glo plastic sights...

BHP - I hear you, but for some it may keep them shooting. I'm 73, and wear tri-focals. Try that for having to look through close up sights, and still focus on a 100 yard target. The two rifles that I have them on, came that way stock. All my others are traditional iron of some sort, peeps, and buckhorns, Etc.

For a period look, hunters on the Shiloh board like front sights made out of copper pennies. Rub the edge shiny and it is said to show up well in all light conditions.
