Wow! for years now. I've thought myself as a weak pansy because I don't like .40 recoil.
Having owned three of them.
Glock .40 (before they were called 22s. recoil!)
CZ40B ( 1911 type grip..alloy frame.ouch!)
CZ75SA ( highly customized, superbly accrate..but no real fun to shoot)
Pronounced Muzzle Flip and then my hand getting pounded at the web.
My reminder comes about once a year when someone offers me
a Glock or other .40 to shoot a few rounds thru their gun.
I too consider it a compromise cartridge.
Slightly bigger than the faster, light recoiling 9mm, but much weaker than
the might TEN.
Smaller than the much vaunted .45 ACP and not so good a 'Stopper' as
the forty-five, if you believe the .45 crowd.
So..Nice to see that I'm not the only person with No Love for the forty.
When I need some .40 caliber goodness. I pull out my 10mm with DT
or other full house loads.
Recoil and recovery are good with the big steel framed pistol..
a Magnumized .40 Short & Weak, if you want to call it that
In all fairness.
The .40 is a good cartridge for those that don't trust the 9mm or
for some reason don't want a .45 or the devine power of the Mighty 10.
