Does anyone out there know who will be arguing for Chicago in McDonald v. Chicago?
The following attorneys are listed in the Brief for Respondents in Opposition to Cert:
MARA S. GEORGES Corporation Counsel of the City of Chicago BENNA RUTH SOLOMON* Deputy Corporation Counsel MYRIAM ZRECZNY KASPER Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel SUZANNE M. LOOSE ANDREW W. WORSECK Assistants Corporation Counsel 30 N. LaSalle Street, Suite 800 Chicago, Illinois 60602 (312) 744-7764 Counsel for the City of Chicago * Counsel of Record
Benna R. Solomon, Deputy Corporation Counsel, is listed on the SCOTUS docket as the attorney of Record.
Does anyone know if Chicago is bringing in-has brought in outside counsel to handle the appeal? I would assume they will not/have not since briefs are due this month, and it would be awfully difficult for a firm to come up to speed this quickly.
This argument is going to be fought and won on Original Intent and the historical record. Gura has been preparing for this argument for years, and is backed up by not just every firearms scholar - Halbrook, Nelson Lund, Volokh, Koppel etc. but almost every constitutional scholar as well. I sincerely doubt any attorney in the Chicago law office has been preparing the counter arguments. I sure hope that Chicago keeps this in house.
