Many thanks for the kind words folk's~!
Yep, we made it out to the range early yesterday for some quality trigger
time. My son in-law was too over shadowed with other functions of the
day, so he shot for less than one hour.
Most of his shooting was
done with a Smith & Wesson model 10; which I'm going too give him
once he pass'es my firearms safety course, and completes all of the
requirements of our local PD range master.
But, that will be a bit
further on down the road I'm afraid. In his short range session, I had
him at least on a B-27 target; before he had to leave.
As for me, I put approximately 100 rounds thru the Baer and about 50
thru the Springer XD .45 ACP. All shooting was done from the 15 yard
line, with a few double taps mixed in for fun. The Baer proved to be so
accurate that it became boring. Almost chewing the X out with the
first magazine fired from the Thunder Ranch gun, I started making head
shots from this distance. Keeping the Baer lubricated I ran the total of
100 rounds thru it in record time; at least for me. This gun drew a lot
of attention from other shooter's including the police department range
master, so I passed it around for other's too try. Everyone was well
pleased with the smooth operation, accuracy, and the quality of this
fine firearm. For those that don't know, Les Baer firearms are tight;
but not overly so as too cause a malfunction. This gun was drawn
from a Bianchi #5 holster during simulated "combat presentations".
Finally, this weapon ran flawlessly all day long; and will occupy a
"permanent party" spot in my safe.
Equally impressive was the Springer XD .45 ACP. With this weapon
being lighter in weight than the Baer, it had more noticeable muzzle
flip. On another B-27 target, it also quickly chewed the X out with
14 shots leaving nothing in the center of the target. Recoil was
manageable, as I used Remington-UMC 230 grain military style ball
ammo in each of these test's. Sights on both weapons were very
easily aligned in sunny but cool (32 degrees) conditions to begin the
morning. The XD would make for a most excellent CCW piece using
a holster other than the supplied GEAR accessory holster supplied
with the firearm. Again, this gun was passed around too other
shooters who also gave it a "thumbs up".
Naw, Richard my friend not a single SIG accompanied us to the
range today. I've just 'bout retired the .45 caliber West German
P220A, as it deserves some special TLC for performing flawlessly
as a duty weapon for over 12 years.
