Who's got the biggest .... gun?

If this hasn't been asked on here before, I'll risk it...

Who has the biggest weapon on these here forums?
lol.

Seriously, if you think size counts, post it.
But here are the rules.

1. it must be yours - not your dept's or your organization's or your military's.

2. it must function - you still have to be able to fire it, if you wanted to.
and of course...

3. picture(s) - or it don't count.

All I have is a 1911 and a snub-nose, so I know I'm not in the running for Big Man on Campus. I know one of you guys has a Flak gun or a cannon or something. ...Time to get out the measuring tape. lol.
 
Define "biggest". Largest caliber? Greatest velocity? Greatest energy? Fastest shooting?

Guns larger than 0.50 caliber are regulated as Destructive Devices, and while DDs exist and are fun as all hell to shoot, they're not that common. Still, one can buy rifles made in 20mm Vulcan if one wishes.

The largest commonly available firearm is likely chambered in .50 BMG.

I know an owner of a 90mm field gun here in Arizona (I know him through a friend, and have seen pictures of his artillery) that he owns for recreation. This same friend, a Class III dealer, also knows people who own miniguns, which probably top out the reasonable maximum for "amount of firepower, in pounds, delivered per second".

For me, the largest diameter bore belongs to my .45 ACP XD-45, while the heaviest gun I own is a Browning M1919A4 (though I just sold it) in .308. The gun weighs about 30 pounds. The most powerful I own is either the M1 Garand or Remington 700 in .30-06. Nothing terribly unusual.
 
It's not the biggest out there, but I did manage to make it look impressively large in the picture. :cool:

anyone who managed to confiscate and hide a Nazi "Rail Gun" in their back yard...

I'm not sure, but i think this is whats in the guiness book of world records as the largest gun

Like I said in the OP - SIZE counts.
So we're looking for the cannon that makes all the other guns shrivel in fear and shame. lol.

I'll be surprised if there's not an actual civil war buff with a working cannon on here.

But I'm sure SOMEONE else on here has a class III. No?
If not, then it'll come down to someone's massive buffalo gun or something.

I know this wont win but I have a 45-70 that.....my freind has one that is a NFA pistol mine is a marlin lever gun.

My 45-70 is a marlin 1895 guide gun dont have a picture of it or that big wheel gun of my friend. He has the smith .500 .460 as well as the rugar .480 and the .454. plain old .44 is a pop gun to this guy I shot all of them except the 45-70 and the .460. The .500 isnt that bad but the .480 hurts a little it is a smaller gun size wise

Well, I've got .50 BMG rifles, but those are a little slow on the ROF.

Overall energy expending in the shortest amount of time has to go to this one:

A few of the neighbors know about it and yes she runs like a dream! If I have her lubed up good and timed right she will run about 470 rounds per minute which works out to about $180 a minute in ammo at todays prices. Needless to say I don't shoot it too often but I always have a few belts linked up and ready to go. She does get out a couple times ayear for some fun.
 
I also have a 50 BMG. Cobb BA50 it is 42 pounds with scope and full mag and is almost 5 feet long. I'll get a photo of it up as soon as I can take one.
 
Here's a few of me:

- Fiddling around with a full-auto M2 in the army. It's mine, as it belongs to the taxpayers, and I'm a taxpayer, right?
- Fun with a Mossberg 500 12ga shotgun. Oooh. Scary, but not as impressive as grimjaw's revolver.
- Me up in the turret of the tank I used to drive. Sadly, I don't have any better pictures (most were from my perspective, looking out -- this was taken by my folks when I graduated from Armor School at Fort Knox, KY). I'm not sure anyone can beat 120mm in terms of caliber, projectile weight (the cartridges weigh between 50-70 pounds), or size/weight of the gun...I claim ownership under the same conditions as I claim ownership of the M2. :evil:

I'd post a picture of me with the 1919, but TIMC beat me to it, and I just sold mine today.

I imagine that most of the people with the really big (privately owned) toys are somewhat hesitant to discuss it openly.
