Who's had good luck with what 12 gauge buck shot, at less than max DRAM? Picked up some PMC #6 because it was a good deal but... pattern is lousy, and recoil is enough to make me hesitate out of my 1300. How far beyond 3 dram is max, anyway?

So, who's had good luck with what and where did you get it?

I surmise you're talking about reduced recoil buck. #6 shot is bird shot, though usable for defence at short range.

Estate RR 00 works best for me out of the 6 or so buck loads I've tried. Your results WILL vary but it's worth a look.

However, if 6 shot loads are punishing you, you may need to review your fit and form. Read the 101 threads and ask any questions you may have...

A couple years ago some of the local dealers were selling Federal Tactical LE 00 and 000 buck. I purchased a couple hundred rounds. It seems to recoil like a 3-1/4 dram game load. It performs very well in my light sxs. I like having a couple rounds on my belt while bird hunting in the event I need something bigger than birdshot.

#7-8 isn't an issue. and I unforunately misspoke, its #4 shot. Which is where I'm getting confused, I've fired 00 and slugs out of this pump before that others had supplied and not had issue with the recoil. I dunno, maybe i'm just out of practice with heavy loads.

What type of shotgun are you shooting these loads in? From my Rem 1100 (semi-auto) decent buck shot doesn't kick a whole lot more than some of the bird shot I've used.

Edit...I figured you were using a pump, and I just noticed that in your last post...sorry.

I use Estate SWAT and Winchester Ranger. Both are RR. I posted a bunch of pics a while back with patterns out of my Defender with the Estate. Do a search under my user name about 6 months or more ago.

Since some have asked, its a 1300 defender. 18" barrel, side saddle. already replaced the original buttpad.. and felt some improvement.

Guess your all correct, I need to find more brands and have at it. This PMC stuff is a bit too stout for me to use much.

yet 2 or 3 rounds of clays don't bother me. oh well.
