Why did the press ignore horrific 2007 Connecticut home invasion?

According to writer Dave Gibson, it's because "what [the press wishes] to stifle most of all is how easily crime can be prevented by a well-armed public."

I remember this from the national news TV and print but there was not a follow up that I recall.
 
Some in this country are all about punishing the gun and letting the criminal out on parole. So when 2 career criminals out on parole commit such horrific murders with a knife the media ignores the story.


Guns don't kill people, parolees kill people ...
 
This has less to do with guns than with social issues and media bias, so it's really off topic for THR.
