Why do the new PTR-91s with the folder cost so much more than the old ones?

Old style ones are $650, the new ones are over $1000? What else is different?

Also, can I add the folder to the earlier ones?

Finally, I would ideally like one with the early match polyoganal [sic] barrel, any idea on where to look?

I have decided this is the gun I want I just am trying to pick the right one.

Does it have the original HK stock? If so, the price is about right. $250-300 for an HK collapsing stock is about right.

You can add a G3 folder of your choice to any of the PTR-91 rifles. If you want a slightly less expensive folder I believe Ace makes an adaptor for the G3 receiver. Choate makes a G3 folder for around a hundred.

Are you sure it wasn't one of the PTR-91k or kp rifles? The 'k' uses a HK-93 forearm and has a slightly shorter barrel. The 'p' version uses the HK telescopic stock ($175 for a POF version). Either should add quite a bit to the bottom line.
