Why don't they use MIL scale for adjustment as well? Wouldn't that make life simpler?

I'm looking at a $1600 8-25 mk4 and it's mis-matched, ***?

From Zak Smith's page "6. The angular units of the reticle features must match the angular units of the knobs' "click"
values. There is no reason to have two different "systems" in use on the same scope. If the
clicks are in MOA, the reticle features should be in MOA. If the reticle is in mils (e.g. Horus
or Mil-dot), the knob clicks should be in mil units."

I recently inquired of Leupold's Custom Shop specifically about installing metric clicks on the 8.5-25 FFP TMR, and they replied that yes, they could install metric adjustments. I inferred from that and from their already offering metric turrets on the 6.5-20 that they probably can convert any Mk4 to metric clicks. I didn't pursue the cost or turnaround time because I'm not ready to do it yet.

It would be nice to see metric clicks offered as standard.

Almost the entire Nightforce line offers MOA-scale reticles. US Optics scopes can be had with your choice of reticle and adjustment knob scale. Same with S&B. Meopta scopes have mil-scale adjustments, although it's a funny number 0.6 mil?) if I recall correctly. And you mentioned the Leupold custom shop.

I suppose that for most purposes you have to convert the mil spacing to a range in yards anyway. Still, it's better to have identical scales. Maybe this will trickle down to some lower-end scopes in the future.
