Why inventories?

I love that you have pics linked to yours Fletch, I'm going to shamelessly steal that tactic.

What I find interesting is that out of the 26 previous replies only one had a inventory list.

Everyone must have deleted their sig lines to repond to thispost ;)

Somebody hit the nail on the head - it's show and tell. How many posts have you seen where somebody will post a picture of a gun they just bought and 15 people will post pictures of guns they own.
Actually, I was wondering just the other day why somebody would post 6 or 8 guns they own in their signature. Uh, Winchester 94, Remington 1100, Ruger MKll..........etc.
To each his own I guess but honestly , most of the ones I've seen wouldn't win any gun collection of the month contests.

My cheap .22LR plinkers (pistol and bolt action carbine) + my 9mm are not exactly bragging material :(

I don't simply because I don't want to fill up the server's hard drive.

Actually, your current signature, with colors, size and underlining codes takes about the same space (or more) in the server's disk!

The signature is stored in only one location of the forum's database, then each post calls for it when it's needed... but it doesn't add up every time you post.

I have no problem with people listing inventories, but I've switched to listing my favorite cartridges. I own one or more firearms chambered with them but I may sell/trade them off so I just list the round instead.

As you can tell I'm partial to the Euro-trash cartridges. :neener:

To each his or her own. what does it matter. if it makes you happy to have it in your sig line then do it. if you are paranoid like me then don't. be cool

all the above &

sometimes conact others with a question about an item listed. Have been contacted also. I also think of it more as 'items of interest' than an inventory. The list also gives some insight to the individual's type of shooting.

Now Claude hit on a reason I had never thought of before. Common interests or if you have a question about a particular gun and see that another member has one.
I wouldn't do it but I can now see a possible reason for it.

I have never done that. It would take up too much space on the web page, honestly. Also, I never felt like advertising it. The Feds monitor/filter all internet traffic now-a-days and it's none of their business.
