I fell into a bargain today - didn't need the shotgun, but I couldn't resist it at the price.

My dealer gave me a quick call. He'd sold a Baikal SxS 12ga., 28" barrels, 3 screw-in chokes, to a guy last year, and said guy had fired half-a-box of ammo out of it and decided that he didn't enjoy the recoil. He traded it in on a semi-auto this morning.

My dealer offered me first crack at the Baikal, which he assured me was in better-than-mint condition. Fearing the answer, I asked "How much?" His answer: "Well, you're a good customer, and I've got too much tied up in after-hunting-season trades right now. How about $225?"

 :D

So, I have a lovely new Baikal SxS sitting by my chair as I type. As my dealer promised, it's in wonderful condition, and I shall have fun playing with it alongside my new-to-me Winchester 101 soon. I know the Baikal isn't your fanciest of SxS's, but at the price, who's complaining? :p

Sweet, cut it down to 8 inches OAL and you have yourself a concealed carry gun.

I keed, obviously. But sweet steal.

I never comprehended why double barrels could be expensive. It's possibly one of the simplest gun designs ever thought of and it doesnt even have rifling.

Sounds a very OK deal Peter.

After I had (wept) sold my Citori Hunter - I got a Baikal O/U 12G for trap etc - and added some Colonial chokes. Must say it has been a very agreeable buy - which I got new BTW so didn't luck out like you!!

Don't shoot it a whole lot but - while it does not in any way replace the Browning - it is IMO good value.

Great deal.

keep us posted on how she does. How esay is takedown/reassembly?

Dicks has the 20ga SxS Stoeger on sale for $299 once in a while. Last time I looked the one they had on display had a coin finished receiver and a recoil pad. That isn't much but it did surprise me that it didn't come with a cheap plastic butt and a dull, lifeless finish.
I'd still rather have the Stevens but the imports are tempting.

A real deal and to my old eyes a SxS double, even a less expensive one is one of if not the best looking and handy shotguns around.
