I am curious if anyone has a copy of the CCW bill that has been proposed for Wisconsin. My anti-gun sister said she read the bill when at the capitol (Madison) and she was shocked at what it permitted. She was saying that the bill would permit one to CCW into bars, and that it mentioned nothing about having to take training classes. I argued with her that she must have been looking at something totally diff rent, because I have read in the local paper, that it would not be permitted to carry into bars, airports, etc. The only way you could ccw into a bar is if they amended 3 other state laws about carrying a gun into a place that serves alcohol.

As far as I am concerned she was just looking at anti-propaganda. We had a big argument over the right to ccw, and even when I showed her numerous websites that states the restrictions and requirements of the ccw bill, she didn't believe me. I tried finding the actual complete bill, but I had no such luck, I really don't know where to look. I haven't spent a lot of time looking for it however. So if anyone could provide me with the bill, I will thank you endlessly. Also, if anyone can explain where she got the idea that you could ccw into a bar, I would like to know. Nothing I have read states that, so like I said before, I think she was reading anti propaganda.

She was saying that the bill would permit one to CCW into bars...

I don't know what's in Wisconsin's shall issue and CCW bill, but can assure you we in Colorado are legally permitted to carry in bars. To date, it's not been a problem. I doubt it ever will be.

I know that you can ccw into bars in some states, but what she was talking about made no sense. Currently in WI, it is illegal to carry into places where alcohol is sold. In order for what she saw to be true, they can't just propose the bill, and leave out ammending the alcohol statutes. You would have 2 laws that conflict with one another otherwise. She was talking about how people were going to be so unsafe because of the new law, and so on. I may have heard something wrong, I tend to space things out when the topic of firearms comes up. No matter what I tell her, show her, etc, guns are bad in her opinion. I have been trying to get her to the range for months, but she always has some excuse for why she can't go.

If she actually held and shot a pistol, I think she would actualy be educated on the subject of firearms. Reading countless stats about how guns are responsible for everything bad in America, yet not having any actual experiance with firearms, is a bit silly. Yet a lot of people in America are that way, so what can I say.

Thanks I owe you.. I read it, and everything my sister said is total opposite to what I read on that bill. What I read is a very clear cut bill, that makes perfect sense. What my sister must have been reading is some sort of anti literature, and not a real bill. She said she will be providing me a copy of it soon, I can't wait to read it. All I know is I sure hope the bill passes, the law abiding gun owners in this state deserve to protect themselves.
