The irony of all this is unbelievable. The man who sold his soul to Governor Doyle and blocked what looked to be a successful override of Doyle's veto of our concealed carry bill is now the author of the bill for CCW for retired law officers.
Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager didn't want to deal with HR218, so she punted and said the legislature should come up with a bill defining uniform standards for law enforcement agencies statewide.
Umm, do you think there's a chance that Doyle gave Sherman the task of authoring the bill, just so Sherman could partially redeem himself after his sellout in February, 2004?
Do you think that maybe Doyle is trying to court the law enforcement crowd?
Just a note to WI law enforcement officers: what Doyle/Lautenschlager/Sherman want you to do is go begging to your former boss, qualify annually with your firearm, and jump through all sorts of hoops.
Wouldn't you be better off with a license that's good for five years and doesn't demand you to jump through hoops, the kind of bill we're trying to pass for all citizens?
