I have an Astra A-100 in 9mm. When I first got it, it loved WWB and shot it incredibly well. Looking to load for it I found that I could duplicate it with 115 gr Zero bullets loaded with 4.8gr of Bullseye. Then being the cheap fish feces I am, I went to lead and found a load that shot like I liked. Here is the problem. I had to qualify last weekend and bought another box of 500 Zero bullets, same as the last few thousand I have fired. Loaded the same as before, set the dies with the same dummy round, weighed the bullets and were +-.2gr and miked right where they always have. At 15-20 yards they hit about 6" low and didn't group very well. It was like shooting a Lorcin/Davis:barf:.
I tried loading 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, 4.8, 4.9, and 5.0. Loaded 17 rds of each but did not fire the 4.9 or 5.0, the recoil seemed to be a bit more than normal and the accuracy didn't improve, nor the groups move up on the target. This is a new batch of powder and bullets than I have loaded successfully in the past, and this powder works well with lead like the past batches of powder, so *** :banghead: I ended up finally locating some factory ammo and got 115 gr fmj lawman to qual with, and it shot point of aim like it was supposed to. Anyone have any ideas what I missed? Why it is shooting low? :banghead:

Did you change anything else like say the primer?

Clean your cases in a different manner?

I would try another bottle of bullseye from a different lot, and if that corrects the Issue I would contact the manufacturer, Alliant.

Same batch of primers from the last 10k I got. Only thing new is the powder, but I get the same velocities from the lead as the last lot of powder, so I would think it is not the problem. I haven't tried these over the chrono yet, but that may be the next thing I have to try. All my cases get the same treatmant, washed, dried, tumbled, just like always.

When you say the bullets "miked right where they always have" are you referring to the cartridge overall length, or to the bullet diameter?

It sounds like these bullets might have a different diameter than those you used before. Hitting dramatically lower than previous experience would indicate that your new rounds are going faster.

Any other thoughts, ideas, or suggestions before I start loading some more? I think I'm gonna load up 5 of each weight starting at the bottom and go almost to the top, a tenth of a grain at a time, then start messing with the oal like it was a new load. I'm thinking I should just stick with lead, I've almost got that one perfected.
