I heard colt is going to start making the mustangs again. I like the mustangs but I like the mustang government alot better. Do you think they might start making the mustang governments again anytime soon.

It's just "Government" not "Mustang Government".

I would hope they fix the faults of the originals since Sig didn't.

What faults would those be? I've fired about 500 rounds through my P238 without a single hiccup, I know the early ones had problems but from what I've seen, they are working great now.

mgregg85 What faults would those be?

For starters:
Poorly designed ejector (wait 'til you break one...difficult to find and expensive)
Plastic trigger
Plastic guide rod
Peening of the slide
I could go on and on.......:(

I just wish it was a true copy of the 1911 and not a "look a like" with little of the 1911 design.

Colt borrowed a Spanish pistol design and slapped their name on it. Sig didn't bother making it better.

Sorry to revive a month old thread here but I felt I should clarify this...

I cannot speak for all of the P238s out there but my guide rod is steel, not plastic, I do know the mustangs had a plastic guide rod so that at least is one improvement.

I haven't had any problems with slide peening, is there any particular place I should look for that to happen?

I'm not crazy about the plastic trigger but then again it has given me no problems and I haven't heard of one breaking yet, have you? I am still considering picking up an aluminum replacement for it.

As for the ejector, are you talking about how the spring will pop off if you push it down too far during reassembly or is there some other problem with it?

I called Colt about two months ago looking for an extractor for a Mustang and was told they could not sell me one because they were all being used for the new production of the Mustangs.

Actually, I feel Sig broke the Mustang.

My Mustang is flawless, my P238, well, it finally is reliable several magazine designs and recoil spring designs later.

The new Mustang is priced in the Colt on-line catalog so if it is not yet on the market, it should be soon.

By the way, you should see my green fueled, four on the floor, all terrain mustang--yes she's a pony we adopted from the government.

I made and sell CNC produced stainless triggers for Colts and the Sig. See both below;
