I seriously doubt that someone would stand by my side to defend our nation or rights, if they can't come down to their local gun rights group meetings once a month or even once everyother month, for an hour or two to BS with some other gun owners and brainstorm some ways to get locally active.

In San Diego we are now trying to consolidate all the groups NRA, GOA, CCRKBA etc... into meeting during the monthly scehduled NRA members council meetings coordinated by the local EVC. Do the same in your area.

Below is the NRA info page on that topic and a zip code search for your area to get involved. It is actually a fun time as well. The only downside is the low turnout. Let's fix that. With resources like THR to complement local action groups, we could get exponentially more done on pro-2A matters.

Not to insult anyone, I am a member of THR for a long time as well, but a bunch of guys venting over the internet wary of actually leaving their homes for the cause, is more laughable than intimidating to any lawmaker or anti gun group. It makes us less effective than an internet stalker....all you have to do to ignore us is....turn the computer or email off.

To ensure that America`s gun owners are always actively involved in the battle to protect freedom, NRA-ILA`s Election Volunteer Coordinators (EVCs) stand ready to answer the call. In the electoral arena, EVCs act as the liaison between pro-gun candidates and NRA members and gun owners in their districts, working to spearhead ILA`s volunteer activities to ensure that pro-freedom candidates have sufficient volunteers for campaign-related activities. However, the key to a successful EVC program is the availability of willing and capable volunteers to assist with numerous activities that must be undertaken to preserve liberty for future generations AND NRA-ILA`s EVCS NEED YOUR HELP!

Please keep in mind that all EVCs serve on a voluntary basis, and ARE NOT employed by NRA. Rather, like you, they are NRA Members and volunteers who have stepped forward to help organize fellow Second Amendment supporters in an effort to protect our freedoms. If you are able to give ANY time to assist with volunteer activities in support of local pro-gun candidates, please contact the EVC in your area. If you need assistance or further information regarding an electoral or legislative matter, please feel free to contact the NRA-ILA Grassroots Division at (800) 392-8683..

Use the zip code search or state map below to contact your local NRA-ILA EVC today to find out what you can do locally to protect the Second Amendment.

First I've heard of it!

How about joining http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sdshooting/ and announcing when these meetings might be?

I do agree with you wholeheartedly... the vast majority of Internet posters are only willing to post to the Internet... most will never pick up the phone, write a letter, attend a meeting, volunteer their time to get petitions signed, etc. A case in point is http://rkba.members.sonic.net We have a whole six of 58 counties represented for the next time we try to qualify an initiative to amend the CA Constitution to include a RKBA. No wonder it never goes anywhere, and no wonder why the Socialists in Sacramento can keep passing stupid laws over and over and over again. Hell, I doubt most of the righteous posters on the various forums like THR even bother to vote.

No, I'm not bitter at all.

I think a major problem is that there are too many fragmented progun groups and no central communications. There may be 5 groups in the area with 3-4 people willing to participate....but it is way more effective for us all to get together at the same time. This is starting to happen in SD BTW. And in all honesty I did not even know...thanks to 20 NRA-ILA letters a week and 0 NRA members council letters a week, that there was any local 2A groups for a few years.

There is some yahoo group (one of about 5) for SD where they are announced.

here is the email for the organizer BTW [email protected]

remove the "X"'s of course.

Hope to see you there.

What are these other Yahoo groups? I'd like to check 'em out. If they're all for the same basic purpose, that seems silly... consolidation would improve communications.

Oh, and check your PMs, morganm01

I'm in San Diego and wasnt aware there were local groups/meetings. But I just bought my first pistol about 2 months ago. Morgan in all likelihood I'll see you at the next uh....... NRA members council meeting. Thanks for the heads up :)

AHA!! I knew that you weren't serious about throwing in the towel and fleeing our great Republik of Kaliforniastan...not yet, anyway.

Keep us posted (at calguns, too) regarding what can be done to help...

Good...

I don't have the addresses of the other online SD boards. There was at least four with variations of sd.shooters.sandiego.yahoo.guns.calguns.net.com.blahblhablah. I just deleted the email that someone sent me that had them all anyway because it p.i$$es me off to go visit a half dozen sites with registration hassles and useless fragmented info that is outdated and usually duplicated somewhere better like THR anyway.:banghead:

sooo....everyone please be sure to email the guy in the thread above so that you will recieve the monthly meeting email reminder. Come one come all! I think the next meeting will be a good time!
