Anyone out there have one of these? I bought mine 10 years ago on auction. Gun rates 95% It says RIOT on the barrel. It is full cylinder. Anyone else have one of these? Mine is an 18in barrel. All factory. I dated it to 1969.

I don't have one exactly like it, but I have a couple of 1200s. The factory Riot guns are a little more interesting, and those with US ordnance marks much more so.

Otherwise, a good solid pumpgun...

At one time, any shotgun with an 18" or 20" barrel was marketed as a riot gun. Mossberg went as far as making an 8 round Model 500 with a 20" phosphated, cylinder choked, oil stocked, bead sighted, riot shotgun that took an M-16 bayonet. Sold all kinds of 'em in the shop I worked in long ago.

Well... :D

Remington originally sold the 870 Police with an 18" barrel, starting back in the 1950s, and the 870 Riot had the same furniture but a 20" barrel. Those old Wingmaster-marked 870s still turn up from time to time, and though they are chambered for 2.75" only, are still good possibilities for a house gun.

And lots of short barreled military shotguns wore heat shields and bayonet lugs as trench guns, including some Winchester 1200s - http://www.gunsamerica.com/941381423/Winchester_Model_1200_US_Trench_Gun_RAR.htm

There were military marked 1200 Riot guns too, but they do not create the excitement among collectors that trench guns do...

Those "old 870's" would be my first choice for a solid close quarters weapon -in or out of the house... Pretty hard to find a cheap one these days -particularly in absolute stock format where no one has "improved" it....

Last weekend I was offered one of these for $200.00. Should have taken it but I know the man very well and he don't offer things very often so it should be there next visit.
