I have a Winchester 1890 .22LR. This gun is basically either a parts gun or a project gun. The blueing is completely gone, it is covered in lite surface rust with some pitting on the receiver. The serial# (155xxx) on the receiver and tang match and according to the research I have done it looks to have been made early 1903. I have the following pieces:

Stripped .22LR barreled receiver
Take down screw
Breech Bolt- Looks to be complete
*Extractor
*Firing pin stop
*Firing pin & spring
Tang
*Hammer spring
*Trigger
*Buttstock screw

Any idea what this might be worth? Looks like a decent start to a project. I did some looking and I think I have most of the hard to find pieces.

If I understand, you have no magazine tube, no forearm, no hammer or other internal parts and no stock or furniture. You can try www.gunpartscorp.com for parts, but IMHO, they will cost more than the gun is worth in the condition you describe. The early solid frame guns go for fancy prices, but later ones in roughly that shape would cost less than the cost of the parts.

I have no idea how you came into possession of that gun, but a lot of guns turn up for sale in an incomplete condition because someone took them apart and lost the pieces, and someone else found he could buy a complete one in better condition for what the parts would cost.

Good luck.

I am not looking to restore this. I am just wondering what it might be worth as a whole or to part it out. My grandfather gave it to me along with a working 1890. They belonged to my great grandfather. I believe this one was just originally picked up for parts if needed.

Unless you can sell the parts individually (a real PITA) you won't get anything for them. I would just keep the gun just in case your working one needs one of the parts it still has.
