Winchester 220 Swift

Picked up a Winchester pre-64 model 70 in 220 Swift this past weekend at a gun show. Gun is nice…98%. Had one years ago and IMR-4064 was the powder of choice for both accuracy and velocity. Anyone have a Swift and what's your favorite load.

I've had a Swift in one configuration or another for 30+ years. Currently I shoot a Remington 700 Classic.

I've tried about every imaginable powder and always go back to IMR4064. Depending on the length of the magazine I've used as much as 39.0 grs. with a Sierra 55 gr. SBT which would yield about 3850 fps out of my Ruger 77V. This load can be on the warm side so I've backed off to 37.5 - 38.0 grs. with the same bullet and am getting around 3750 out of a 24" barrel.

You've got yourself a real classic there chambered for a screaming, accurate, flat-shooting cartridge....enjoy it!
