I just got done polishing the chamber on a Winchester 36 Garden gun for a friend and took it out to test fire it.
I got to say the thing is a hoot!
Fiocchi at least, still makes 9mm rim-fire 1/4 oz. shotgun shells in 6, 7 1/2, 8, and 9 shot sizes. Noise & recoil are about like a .22 RF.
As for power & patterning, I was very impressed.
I shot a beer can with a #6 load at 20 paces and sent it flying with 15 - 20 holes through it.
Another shot at a starling in a tree with 7 1/2 shot at about 30 yards resulted in a DRT starling.
If someone still made a 9mm RF garden gun like this, and ammo was a little more available, I would buy one in a heartbeat!
I think we could use something like this a lot worse then all the new "cartridge of the month" intros coming from Federal, Hornady, Ruger, and others.
(that do nothing old standby calibers don't already do just as well.)
The arms companies are missing a sales bet by not bringing the 9mm RF Garden Gun back!
