I need another shotgun like I need a hole in the head, BUT.....

My dealer just took in a used buy very nice Winchester Ranger 120 in 12 Ga. VERY slick action, finish is pretty good with just a few small blemishes, also has two barrels, one a slug barrel. The wood on the stock is quite nice also, pretty and in good shape.

He wants $250. Should I weaken on this one?

The 120 was a 1200 variant. Decent shotgun, though not as immortal as an 870 or 37.

If it calls to you, get it. OK price.

For what it's worth, I love mine. I got it as a birth day present when I turned 16, and have been shooting it ever since.

My friends all got 870s, I was the lone winchester gunner in our group.

Their guns looked better, but the action on my 120 seemed slicker. Allso my gun seemed a little lighter than the remingtons.

I my get a O/U some day for skeet, but I don't ever intend to get rid of my Winchester 120

If the slug barrel is rifled go for it, otherwise pass. You can get a Mossy 500 combo for under $300 with a rifled barrel so there is no reason to buy a mediocre shotty with a smoothbore slug barrel when you can buy a mediocre shotgun with a rifled barrel for essentially the same money.

JMO.

It's still on my dealer's wall. His clientale is not really into sporting SGs although some of the more popular models do move. It's nice but I really don't have a need for it. I'm still looking at an older 870 Wingmaster w/extended mag tube and folding stock (which IIRC HSMITH has dibs on if I buy it).
