I needed some 9MM brass so I bought a few boxes of Win white box 9MM ammo and the only headstamp I've ever seen is the WIN headstamp. A few of these boxes have WCC and a small O with a plus in the center. Also the primers look to be crimped.
Anyone have any info on these?
Thanks.

I would venture to say for plunking ammunition it's O K . But as plentiful as 9mmX19 is as range pickups and other sourses. I doubt that it's worth the time and trouble to prep for reloading. Not knowing how much you paid for them...You're talking about reaming the primer pockets added to the regular chores of preping cases for reloading. Another tool to add :)D ) to your growing collection...

The cross in the circle means the ammunition was loaded to NATO specs, and will have crimped primers. You'll also find that the WCC brass is slightly thicker and stronger than commercial brass. Personally, I prefer it, since I load my 9mm rounds on the warm side and with the thicker brass there is very little case expansion with the warmer loads. I'm able to obtain all the
9mm brass the Coast Guard uses on our range, along with most of the commercial brass others leave behind. The only brass I keep for myself is the military brass, since it's so much stronger. I have a slick setup for removing the primer crimp and it only takes a second for each one.

You didn't get screwed. As for needing 9mm brass, I just gave over 5,000 rounds of once fired to a friend of mine. I get enough to keep a small city in brass for a long time.

The rumor that I heard recently at our shooting range (which is within about an hour's drive of the Winchester ammo plant in East Alton, IL) was that the Winchester White Box 9mm was the beginning and ending rounds of multi-million round runs of military ammo. When they were being sure that the line was coming up to speed running smoothly and consistently. The bulk of the run went to the military packaging, while the startup and shutdown got put in white boxes and sent to Wally World.

It made a good story, and if true might account for some military headstamps ending up in commercial boxes. But I'd really be interested if anybody knows how these lines are actually run.

I bought these at Gart sports on sale for $3.65 a box of 50. I bought a dozen boxes and ended up with 5 boxes with the WCC headstamp.

ReloaderFred, thanks for the encouraging post.
I'll keep these cases seperated from the others.

Thanks again.
