I picked up a Windicator a couple of months ago at a local shop for $240.00 out the door. I also own a 1968 Ruger 357. I was searching the forum for threads on the Windicator and was shocked by all the negative comments. What really blew me away was most of the folks commenting didn't own a Windicator. You know the usual I dont own one but my brothers cousins friend does and he said blah blah blah! I have to say it is a sturdy reliable revolver! No it's not the same quality as those you pay 3 times the price for but it rocks for $240. I have put 400 rounds through it 38's, +P's and full house win 296 357's without and issue. I just wanted to get some facts on the board for those looking for an affordable wheel gun that is a blast to shoot. The gun is great on recoil and comes with an excellent grip.

Just saying

Another good "value-priced" revolver on the market right now is the steel framed Alfa-Proj Czechpoint is selling. Picked one up recently in 357 mag and am very pleased with it. Even with shipping and transfer I was in it for less than a new Taurus 66. Better build quality too, in my opinion.

Here's mine, not a 4 inch. Yesterday's 12 Shot group at ten yards. It's had thousands of rounds through it since I have had it and it has been cleaned once during that time. Not sure how old it is but it feels like it did when I got it. Long live the windicator.

thats the problem with the value guns. its really really really easy for the guy who just shelled out 800 dollars for a used model 15 to laugh at ya for buying a piece of crap is you say you bought a 240 dollar windicator.

It's sort of the same thing as with the Taurus revolvers...

I understand many, if not most, have good experiences with them... but there are just a disproportionate number of those who have issues OTB compared to other brands. Add to the foreign nature of the companies and warranty work can become and issue.

I think the guns are alright, but I can get a used S&W K-frame police trade in for $300 all over the internet, which are very high quality guns are and are likely to have been shot just regularly enough to ensure function but are far from wore out.

This is a report I made of the HW357 4'' compared to my ex S&W 686-6 Plus 2.5'': http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=95580&page=2.
I also own a Weihrauch HW9 6'' Target Trophy .22L.R.: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=558593
It's accurate and smooth. It had some teething problems and it is still picky about ammo when shooting DA but the SA is great. The DA trigger pull is very light for a rimfire revolver. I'm at the 6000 round mark now.
I've shot other Weihrauch revolvers: a .38Spl 2.5'' snub, a .357Mag 3'' with adjustable sights and a .357Mag 6'' Target Trophy crome and all were good ones. That's my experience with them. The owners were also satisfied with their purchase. I know other two guys that own them and they are satisfied also, one owns a .38Spl 4'' and the other owns a .357Mag 4'' (I didn't have the chance to shoot those ones yet).
Check the Weirauch web-site for some interesting models: http://www.hermann-weihrauch-revolver.de/english/e_produkte.htm

My bil has one. I use it frequently. Great value, reliable and well made. I do not hesitate to recommend.

Another sleeper is Armcor/RIA revolver. Just introduced this year. Priced about the same as the Windicater. I have not fired this one but have heard good things

I've got a Windicator, and it's not a bad gun.
My only complaint is that when they cut the barrel down, they just left it squared off, no crown, no blue, just flat bare metal.
Maybe someday I'll get that fixed, but for a beat around gun, it's a good one
