I haven't seen all of them, but the barrels I have seen with a middle bead, also had a Bradley style front bead, and both were screwed in. The ones with the single white metal front bead are pressed in.
All my shotguns have a middle bead whether they came with one or not. The middle bead assures me that my face position on the comb is correct.
I’m sure you realize that the eye looking down the barrel is the rear sight; barring the use of rifled sights ghost rings and scopes. A middle bead assures me my face position on the comb is correct and therefore my eye is in the proper place.
For me the middle bead is a practice tool and not a sighting tool (except for trap) because I shoot from a low gun carry in International Skeet and field shooting. I practice mounting my shotgun repeatedly until I see the figure “8” formed by the smaller middle bead superimposed ahead of the larger front bead almost unfailingly. In actual shooting I never look for the figure “8” because I know instinctually it will be there after all that practice.
