The bottle states it is safe for "All Modern gun finishes"...that doesn't really tell me that much, but states that it will disolve "varnish, laquer, and oil finishes".

I was wondering if anyone knew whether it would be ok to use on a Remington 700 BDL, with that shiny finish. The finish on mine is my favorite thing about the gun, I won't chance ruining it.

We used it on my dad's old k98 today. He said he has never been able to get it perfectly clean even with bronze brush and tons of patches. The gun had already been cleaned after the last time shooting it and the Wip-Out came out as blue as the Dallas Cowboy uniform the first time. Then running more catalyst through, it came out yellow brown. That stuff works better on copper than the Hoppes Benchrest #9 I've been using.

No matter how good it cleans though, I won't use it on my Remington unless I am sure the finish is safe.

Remington uses epoxy or polyester finish so I think you would be O.k..

Maybe test a small place you can't see?
Or take the action out of the stock and hose away.
