I've heard that the Wolf, etc. ammo is too big (.311 or so) for the .308 bore of the Mini. I've also heard that the newer Mini's (581-xxxxx) were bored a little bigger (.3095 or so), to better accomodate bulk ammo. Any info/opinions appreciated.

most domestic manufacture x39 rifles have a .310 bore.
Check the Manufacturer's warranty if you are concerned (with warranty)
My x39 AR only gets brass because I'm too picky sometimes, but the boltie would be fed steel case (non corrosive)

Ruger Mini 30 started with a 308 barrel--about 1 years later Ruger changed to a 310/311 bore.
I have a 308 in my Mini 30---I have been using Hornady 310 & 311 bullets since 1986 to reload
my Mini 30---it still is very accurate

The general consensus of the Mini-30 fans over at the Perfect Union forum says nix on the Russian ammo. Seems the Berdan-primed steel case breaks firing pins sooner or later. Stick with brass-cased Boxer primed stuff.

Winchester, PMC, Fiocchi, and brass-cased handloads are all I will shoot out of mine.
