World Shooting Complex- Sparta, IL

Jeff White,

As hostile as IL can be to gunnies, I'm happy to see that the sparta Complex will become reality - especially since I come out to visit several times a year to visit the in-laws in Nashville and Pinckneyville.

I think I'm clear on potentially transporting firearms in IL, but how would an out-of-stater obtain ammo without a FOID?

Terminus,

Out of state residents are exempt from the FOID law and may legally buy ammo. Unfortunately, some retailers don't know this.

I'm really dissapointed in the Sparta complex. It's basically just a giant trap range which is a politically correct sport. If you've spent any time with competitive trap shooters you know that they are in general not very pro-gun as strange as that seems. A facility that large should have at a minimum a 300 yard rifle range and a lot more small arms ranges. Kinda bummed about it myself.

As for explaining why the anti-gun state would spend IL tax dollars on it, well they didn't. This is Pitman money that was never spent on sporting improvements as required by law. The only reaosn they did it at all as far as I can tell is that there was some stink a couple years ago about pitman money not being spent properly and then all the sudden the Sparta project was proposed. Seemed like a big CYA move for the state to me.

Judy Barr Topinka: Wouldn't say she is pro-gun, she's said she would be in favor of an assualt weapons ban.

Ain't that the truth.

My uncle is working at the shooting complex doing construction. From what he has said about the place, it is going to be awesome.
