i have a winchester 07 that is in mint condition with a williams peep sight, 1 5 round mag, 1 10 round mag, and 2 boxes of original western 351 ammo. everything except the 10 round mag is in excellent shape, the 10 rounder had to be refinished, it was pretty beat up.

i have been debating taking it to a gunshow and seeing if i could trade for an ar-15. would that be unreasonable? i paid 400 for the gun, 50 for the 10 rounder, and another hundred for the 100 rounds.

any comments appreciated, btw if you want it and your in the michigan area, its the silverdome gun show.

Your rifle is a delight...

but not very current. They were an excellent rifle of the type, but found more use as a short range combat weapon (read prison guard) than a deer gun.

I doubt if anyone will trade you an AR for it; here's why: The guys who deal in ARs usually don't deal in antiques. Furthermore, they will only give you what they think is "wholesale" on the trade in. So, if they think they can sell your gun for $XX, they will offer you from 50 to 70 % of that, depending on their markup.
If you can find a black rifle dealer who collects Winchesters, and your's is the perfect one to fill in his collection, you're in business. Otherwise....

Look around for the Winchester collectors. See if they want it, or knows someone who does want it. You'll get far more from a collector than from any dealer.

If I wasn't promised out with my gun money, I'd offer you something myself. I like those old guns. Good luck in any event.
