Would this deal be insane?

I have actually contemplated trading my 1006 in on a G20 today. Is that insane or what?

The 1006 is getting to be a pain lugging it around Arizona when I'm out walking ridges and draws hunting. The S&W rides in a Bianchi accumold holster. I was thinking of getting the G20 for that reason. A bit lighter to lug around.

On the other hand, I do load some pretty hot 200gr XTP ammo for the 1006. Don't know if the factory G20 barrel will handle them. Might have to go to a KKM or other barrel if I get the G20.

What say you? Am I nuts?

Hmmmm....the 1006 is just going to go up in value, and the G20 is going to be stagnant unless Glock stops making them, and even then there are lots out there. I have both, and I like the G20 more in all ways other than looks and fun to fondle. I guess if you really cant or dont want to swing both and really arent partial to the 1006, then the G20 is the way to go.

I think the stock G20 barrel should be able to handle anything the 1006 barrel can. I have loaded 200@1240 +/- a few fps and never worried.

Second on go for more.

I've had a 1006 I've carried as a duty weapon for nearly 10 years now. Yeah, its a big, ungodly heavy piece of stainless steel, but the comfort factor of the power of the 10mm destroying what it hits coupled with the club factor if you run out of ammo is comforting.

The G20 is a great pistol but will be a world of difference in recoil managment compared to the 1006.

More is always better and the G20 would be a nice addition to any collection.

this is the advise , I would go with
find away to have both

Ah heck, so much for the new carb for my Cougar. Looks like I have to rebuild the old Carter and keep the money for a new G20.:D

Everytime I think of getting rid of the 1006 you guys talk me out of it. :)

The 1006 will only go up in value. The G20 loses value before you even leave the shop.
