January is new toy month for me. (business contracts due)...

Would you in any way let our illustrious, lost, leadership deter you from buying an AR, CX4 Storm or something of the sort, afraid that they will make you give it back & loosing the 800 to 1500 dollars spent?

I guess I'm gun-shy if you will, that they are going to try & get something done & I don't want to waste my money. If most people thought that I'm taking too big of a chance then I'll get a lever rifle instead.

All opinions welcome...

I realize that this could be a Legal Category question, so I'm ok with it being moved.

Sorry, mine was lost on the way home from the sporting good store. Unfortunate really.....

Suppose for a moment there is a forum for congressmen. Let's replace a few words in the OP:

Would you in any way let our illustrious, lost, constituency deter you from banning AW or hi-capacity magazines or something of the sort, afraid that they will vote you out of office at the next election cycle?

Today's "Wall Street Journal" has an article about gun control on the front page.

The Democrat's are disorganized and confused about exactly what their plan will be.

In a way they have already deterred me from buying, the panic they caused has stripped the stores of everything I would want to buy. :(

I might wait to see what prices do but I wouldn't be afraid to jump on a good deal. I'll probably be shopping with you. I had a very unfortunate boating accident a while back.;)

I've been building an AR piece by piece for a few months now. Today, I decided to just spend the money at once and get the rest of what I still need, just in case.

I am real happy my firearms/ammo stocks are sufficient that I don't have to go out and pay these current prices.

Why wouldn't it be prudent to wait at this point? Prices are 2-3 times what they should be. If there is a ban are you willing to pay 200-3000 per gun to buy the stamp? Are you willing to risk being a felon by not registering it?

Best case scenario all this blows over with minimal effect and there will be a glut of firearms that people bought in a panic and can't afford. That could mean prices will be at or below what they were in November.

Worst case, there will be a number of people that are unwilling to pay the stamp and register the firearm and there will be a window where you can buy before it takes effect. Of course, if you buy now at these prices and decide you don't want to keep it under future restrictions, you'll likely be selling in a market with more sellers than buyers and I'd expect to lose money on the sale. Maybe a big hit.

Nobody knows what is going to happen at this point. It is ALL speculation. Put that money you are willing to spend and stash it. Let it earn some interest. What is there to gain by buying now?

I wouldn't buy an AR or AK right now because of the crazed panic prices but that is the only reason.

I am preparing for the tax increase first that was passed by Congress yesterday...

oh no tax increase you say. Better read the fine print.
Precisely. Also, I would look for prices of goods to increase. Medical costs will continue to increase. College tuitions will continue to increase. All these guys who went out and bought this stuff aren't single. If their wives weren't fully behind their purchases, look for a lot of this stuff to come back on the market in a few months when household budgets start getting stretched thin especially if no bans are passed and supplies start to catch demand.

I wont be buying an AR any time soon and if the prices dont come back down to earth I will NEVER BUY one!:barf:

The primary reason I see not to buy right now is due to the current pricing mania. If one is afraid to buy because they might lose it or have give it back, well, that suggests one who is afraid to make a stand and fight for their rights at all.

Thanx For The Replies...

You talked me into it!!!

Academy Sports had a CX4 Storm with standard pricing. No panic buy here. Just picked it up before someone else grabbed it. The .40 on display & in the box were both gone since yesterday. They had an undiplayed 9mm tucked away in the box that they told me about and she was still there waiting. She is now at home with me... Yeaaaah!!!

I expect a lot of people will do what they've been doing all along. Buy at good prices when they can and either upgrade their collection or sell at a profit later. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't done it. Makes me wonder how many of those 700 and 800 dollar ARs got flipped in the last two weeks for double money.

Way to go Bayou! I always wanted a CX4, but haven't been able to find a good enough deal on one yet. Seems like it should be a tremendous home defense gun and a lot of fun for plinking.

Good deal!!! That's an awesomely fun gun to shoot...along with the PX4. It was a good feeling buying extra mags too since they fit both guns.
