MORGANTOWN, W.Va.
Organizers of a fund-raiser that will benefit the West Virginia University rifle team are making final preparations for Saturday's event.
More than 200 prizes will be given away at the W-V-U rifle team "Gun Bash" at the White Horse Education in Peeltree, which is in Barbour County.
Supporters have bought ten-thousand tickets at 50 dollars apiece. Among the items that will be raffled off are guns, a plasma TV, all-terrain vehicles and a custom-built motorcycle.
The rifle team's won back its varsity status this summer after spending a year as a club sport. But the W-V-U athletic department has budgeted no money for the sport, meaning the team is dependent on state money, donations and fund-raising efforts.
The "Gun Bash" is being organized by a Morgantown gun shop. The event is expected to raise about 200-thousand dollars for the rifle team.
