Yankee Hill Mite or Tactical Soltions Cascade

A friend of mine has got me into looking at suppressors for my 22's. So far, I am comparing the Yankee Hill Machine YHM Mite and the Tac Sol Cascade TI and MC.

I know nothing about any of them. Who out there has had experience with one or both. I can get either for under 3 bills plus the stamp.

Help educate me............
 
I don't have much experience with suppressors, but I have seen the YHM Mite in use, both on a 10/22 and a pistol. Fired indoors without hearing protection and no lube, it sounded no louder than a loud staple gun. I even have a basis of comparison, b/c I once accidentally discharged an unsuppressed .22 in my living room (ouch).

I was sold on YHM, I just haven't had the spare cash to get one yet.

The Cascade TI can not be taken apart, but the Cascade MC can be.

Is it better to have a can that can be taken apart?
 
That's up to you. I don't want a can that can be taken apart, because then I'd feel like I'd HAVE TO take it apart to clean.

Which MITE are you looking at; stainless or aluminum?
Not that it matters much, I'd opt for the Ti TacSol over them all.
 
My FFL has both the stainless and aluminum MITE's coming in. He just sold his last TacSol. Said it would take a little while to get them back in.
 
No personal experience, but the contemporary wisdom seems to be that with .22 cans you need to be able to take them apart and clean them because .22 is so dirty - your suppressor will eventually get caked up internally with molten lead and soot.
 
From what I have read so far, there are a lot of people that recommend a can that can be taken apart. I also see people recommending "upgrading" from an aluminum cam. Stainless, titanium, steel. Then some say that aluminum will hold up just fine. Not sure which to believe.
 
It's pretty simple. A suppressor CAN be cleaned without taking it apart, but some people want one that disassembles so they can open it up to clean it. Neither way is right or wrong, easier nor more difficult. It's just up to you and what you want.

Steel and titanium are obviously stronger than aluminum, but aluminum is still metal. It will certainly "hold up just fine" or else manufacturers wouldn't make suppressors out of it. If you want the stronger material, it'll probably cost a bit more. It's just up to you and what you want.

You will not be dissatisfied with any of these choices you're considering. In fact, I think all of them carry a lifetime warranty, and both companies are top notch.

Just found out that I can get a Mite for $275 and a Cascade MC for $300. Mite is black aluminum and the Cascade is titanium. Both come apart.

Is it a no-brainer for only $25 difference or does it not matter?

You're talking about a lifetime investment. Of course spending $25 more is a no brainer.

BTW, for .22s, get a can that can be taken apart. .22s are FILTHY beasts.
 
No problems with my Tatical Solutions Cascade. I've had it for about 1.5 year. I'd buy another if I had to do it again. Solid can with good performance.

I was really impressed by the mite. I am in the same boat you are in between choosing one of the two. I am hoping to find more info on the cascade. Tactsol is an awesome company. I have one of there uppers for my mkIII on the way.
