I recieved a loaner gun for making holsters with. They said shoot it, treat it well and when your done....either buy it or send it back. But not TOO LONG! OK.............hmmmmmmm:rolleyes:

Im an avid CZ Head.......highest degree, almost anyway. Ive been curious about the gun like most of you guys, even those not of the CZ Cult wanted to know more.

Its based heavily on the Colt/CZ produced CZ40B/Z40 model. The frame is alloy with a steel slide. Its a solid little gun and you know your holding it.
The weight @ 25 oz is identical to a Kahr K40, which makes it pretty stout given its smaller size.

The abbreviated grip lends itself to a solid 2 finger grip with the pinky under the mag base. The grip feels small in diameter..especially for a double stack 40 chambered gun. The front strap has horizontal serrations which should benefit the little guns big recoil impulse. The rear strap has vertical serrations. The beavertail is upswept like the CZ SA or 97 style.
The grips are rubber and are held on with 2 screws each w/ frame bushings..ala the CZ40.

The slide is poly black coated to match the frame. Its got front serrations which help with the racking of the slide. CZ's have internal frame rails as to most other guns external rail setups. This puts more of the slide inside the frame and offers less area to grasp, thus the front serrations are needed. The sights are both dovetailed in nicely and are 3 dots with a nice sight picture.

One thing Ill say about the little CZ is its nicely "melted" which is more than just breaking the corners. The front of the slide is reshaped much like a CDP Kimber is.....very round and smooth.

The barrel is a 3" and is coated in the same black style as the PO1 barrel is.

The Traditional DA/SA trigger was notchy at first but after cleaning, lubing and dryfiring the hell out of it...the trigger is very nice both DA and SA.
The safety and slide stops are both very very thin and as compact as you can get, taking away from there functionality, all in the name of making it "SMALL" and smooth. Nice job.........and trade off, IMO. You can carry Cond 1 or 2 depending on what you are used to and your carry location of choice.

The fit in the frame and slide is a tad looser than Im used to even on my CZ's even my mega +P's PCR is very tight. No vertical movement can be felt. Barrel lockup is rock solid as is the barrel/slide fit at the muzzle.
Should prove to be a shooter if all goes as expected......

Ill shoot the gun next week and have to give my impressions of its initial run.

So far Ive made a couple of holsters with it and carried it IWB and in weak side pocket also. I carries well in a pocket. If I was buying this gun, Id reshape the Mag baseplates for less printing when in pocket.

Overall I like the gun alot! Its style, character and appeal are all there.
The more I play with it and get to know it......I like it even more.

Shoot well.

Nice looking. Letts see how it shoots. Would like to see cronograph figures from it's short barrel too.
