O.k, I was leaning toward the Glock ahead of the other choices on my poll, you guys just reinforced my choice for a high capacity 9mm by having the G19 run away with the poll. Now my only other question is should I consider the G17 also. I already know about the size difference, conceal carry, but between just those two Glocks, which one is the best all around performer for multiple all around occasions.

I think people tend to overcomplicate the matter. Pick up 17, pick up 19, sit both down, pay for one that felt best.

A lot of FBI agents and others conceal carry the full size Glock (G-22), a lot of competitive shooters who hit groups way smaller and faster than most any of us choose the midsize G-19/23, when they could use the bigger pistol if they so desired. 1/2" on both ends either way is not going to make or break you IMHO.

Whichever fits your hand the best....for me, it's the G17. My second and third fingers are kinda squished together and up against the trigger guard on the G19...if it wasn't for that ????? Then again, like Black Majik said, the G34 is nice....

Don't listen to Superpsy j/k

I would say the 19 is probably more versatile (and therefore more appealing, not only to you, but since most guns get re-sold at one point or another, appealing to future buyers) since technically you could use it for self defense/CCW, competition, as well as plinking/target shooting. The 19 is going to group probably just as good as its longer barrel counterpart. For me it all boils down to whether you think you'll ever end up carrying it for CCW. If you know that you'll never CCW and it's going to be a competition/non CCW only pistol, then go with the 17. The longer barrel/increase in muzzle velocity and possible accuracy increase might be a bonus in a competition, but for defense/CCW situations change in accuracy between the two models is minimal at best. (After all we are still dealing with Glock capabilities) :neener: All joking aside, I would go with the 19 because I typically rotate all my carry guns and anything in my collection eventually ends up being carried at least once. Just my .02. Enjoy whatever you end up purchasing. They'll both serve you well. :D
p.s. I was just joking about Superpsy, he knows his Glocks, always very accurate information. Except he doesn't have big hands, they're of the more girly/sissy type.

metalhd9034 ha. everyone in the world doesn't love 1911s. =)

Apologies for the thread drift 10beers..back to your original question. I tried the 19 and 17 but found that my little finger didn't feel comfortable on the 19's grip. The 17 was definitely roomier.

The 17 fits my hand better but, the 19 fits under a shirt better.

If CCW is a consideration the 19.

But, the 17 is just a super great gun. An instant classic.
