my regular supplier was out of small rifle primers, so I went to bass pro, and they wanted $49.90 for 1000, I only bought 300 at $4.99 per 100 untill my regular guy gets more in. I wish I had a good reliable local supplier for reloading componets.

order them... with prices that high haz mat is irrelevant, wolf primers can be bought for 17 per 1000.

Same prices at the Bass Pro here... I am just starting out, so I bought one box to get me through.

I'm new to this, and I'm already sold on the online retailer idea!

Wow. Even the Gander by me sells rifle primers at $2.99/100.

I'd say to bookmark Powder Valley. They have good prices and normally keep a good supply. I *think* I saw them having Federal SR primers in stock just yesterday.

I stopped by the Gander Mountain a couple of days ago to get some primers because my usual source had closed. They also wanted $39 / 1000. I had to pass.

The Bass Pro in my area ,(Clarksville IN) has the powder at around $21.00 a pound average, some of the slower movers in the teens, they don't offer primers, bullets are high, most of the other stuff, what they stock, is just about Midway prices, bet they use Midways catalog to start out a new product.
What burns me is the yahoo's they got doing the ordering, they will stock, lets just say , 100 rounds .22 Hornet brass and all the .22 cal bullets will be 55 grains or higher, then when you go to look for some powder its RE15, or Varget, that drives me bonkers!

The Clarksville BPS has primers, but they are behind the counter...or at least that's what one of the clerks told me when I asked.

Powder there as of yesterday was $24 for IMR4850, Varget and most other popular options. They are constantly out of .223 brass and 168gr .30cal HPBT bullets...but they do have a good price on the Winchester white box .40SW.

I personally don't mind paying a little extra to get stuff TODAY.

not to hijack , but i live in charlestown, IN what about us 3 get together and orderfor powder valley ?

its the pro bass in clarksville in that had the primers for $49.90, I would be up for a group buy of pimers or powder in southern Ind.

Now you guys are talking. That's what I do with a couple of friends that live near me. You can buy 50,000 primers for one hazmat fee. Check out Graf's also. Graf's will have the hazmat but offers free shipping, that will save around $30. The last couple of orders I was also told if I ordered over $500 then I would get an additional 5% off the order.

Visited my parents in Lexington today...Sportsman's Warehouse had H380 for 16.99/lb, H4350 for 19.99/lb and Varget for 20.99/lb. They were damn near sold out of primers but 1000 CCI large rifle primers were 26.99, Magnums were 28.99.

I wish there was a Sportsman's Warehouse closer to Louisville!
