Got an 1100 Remmy 20 gauge. Have had it for a long time.

21" barrel, 4 shot tube.

Would this be a good home defense gun?

Thanks

Wooden stocked version too.

I hear Remington doesn't make them anymore?

Thanks for the reply

The 20 gauge YE handles like an M-1 carbine, with more kick. If that was what I had available, I'd consider myself well armed.

IMO, the big reason there's not more ink on these is the lack of "Tactical" accessories. But, a box stock 870 YE is one heckuva weapon if one knows how to use it and when.

It will make an excellent HD gun. I've got a longer-barreled one, and I'm thinking about fitting it with some of the accessories available from Jon Tank for his HD conversion. You might want to check that out...

Interesting site Preacher, thanks.

Yep, these are best kept secret IMO as Dave pointed out. Very handy and easy to control, and manipulate. Very good for the smaller folks in household , and the bigger folks can use them too.

Not something one has to "grow into", per se'. One does not "grow out" of either.

sm,

At least she didn't ask why it didn't have an extended magazine with a heat shield and bayonet lug attached....for a single shot. :neener:

big time edit by yours truly...duh

kudu,

hush...wasn't supposed to see that.
I'm trying to see how many browers and irons in the fire I can multi-task and goof up...I'm doing "real good" it seems.

You can re -read it if you like in the proper thread now...oops.

Okay...I will not have kudu look bad because I was stupid.
I posted the following in the wrong thread.

Dave, others... ya'll need to sit if you ain't.

My comments on the overuse of the word "tactical" are ...err...known. Mom is aware of this and other words I really do not care for and the current overuse.

So this 20 ga youth single shot NEF comes in , and it is black and nickel finish. Like I said what was in stock and what my buddy ordered.

This gun is for my now 74 y/o Mom. I present this to her and you will never in a million years guess what she says as I finish putting on the Koplin elastic butt cuff , filled up with the yellow shells.

Deadpan , and expressionless she quips...

"Gee the yellow kinda takes away from the "tacticality" don't you think?"

She got me good with that one...then she burst out laughing...I had that " deer in the headlight " look she said.
:p

So those Tank 20 Gauge mag extensions are for magnums or 2 3/4" shells?

My gun just shoots 2 3/4", no 3".

Thanks

Absolutely a good gun for HD. 2 3/4" is just fine. 3" and 3 1/2" is really only needed when trying to blast ducks and geese with steel shot.

People have been getting shot dead with 2 3/4" lead for many decades. ;)
