I've created a new site, and am starting a campaign to help further the fight for RTC in IL.

If you do nothing else, please at least sign the following petition in support of right to carry in IL:
http://protectillinois.org/petition

But the aim of the site is much bigger. The basic premise is that RTC will continually be denied in IL until we have the support of the general public, who can also put the pressure on the political machine.

As such, all of the information on the site has been written for people who aren't necessarily firearm enthusiasts, or who might otherwise be apathetic to 2A issues. The goal is that people who don't otherwise care about RKBA will read the site and take issue with their rights being denied in IL.

I've made it very easy for people to share the site, and all it takes is a few clicks for IL residents to write a letter to their legislators in the General Assembly.

So please get as many people as you can to sign the petition, IL residents or not (because whether or not you live here, you may need to visit at some point). And send the main link - http://ProtectIllinois.org to anyone you know in IL.

Thanks.

It's a great idea-what can I do to help?

Spread the word of course. :)

We need wide public awareness and education of this issue in Illinois before anyone will do anything.

To the people of IL, especially the Chicago area, RTC/CCW seems like such a foreign thing - they're gut reactions are "that's insane! and dangerous!" because of the lies they've been fed by politicians and media. This site will hopefully be a first step toward making everyone here more comfortable with the idea - or better yet, advocates of it!

So spread the word to everyone you know!

The last two times I have successfully passed thru IL, I notified a couple Chamber of commerces in towns along my route.

Successful passage= no stops and no $$ spent in IL...

Ill and some motels should I need to pass thru again.

Signed

Way to be proactive. I have family in WI that is fighting the same fight so I fully support this in both states. Good luck and keep up the good work.

No matter how much public support you garner, any right to carry bill will be vetoed by Quinn.

Signed. Now we have to deal with Quinn the governor of Chicago for the rest of his term. I wonder if the Chicagoans are happy they put him back in office after his new income tax rate hike that he just signed. I think it will actually hurt them more than us downstate and that would be poetic.

Well, for any Right to Carry bill that includes preemption (i.e. towns/counties can't ban RTC locally), Madigan blocks it from even reaching the floor. We need 71 votes, more than a simple majority (60 votes) to get it past him and pass a vote. If you can get 71 votes to pass it, you can overturn Quinn's veto.

As the only 2 states remaining that have "no-issue" CWP laws, Illinois and Wisconsin are clearly behind the times relative to the national trend since 1986 shown by the chronological CWP national map at:
