I was getting ready to purchase some 230gr bullets to reload for my S&W M&P 45acp. I noticed that some of the vendors sell 230gr's that are .451 diameter and others have .452 diameter. Short of slugging the barrel, how do I know which size is best for my gun.

I am planning to get FMJ not lead bullets

Typically .451 for jacketed, .452 for lead/plated - assuming a conventional barrel.

I've noticed some like Hornady, have jacked in both .451 & .452 and believe that those usually heavier bullets (260-300) which are .452, IMO they are ment for revolvers. Calibers like the .45 colt, .454 Casull. LM
