Ok, I know that a HUGE percentage of folks here have very little in the way of kind words to say about Hi Point but I have to give them a standing ovation for their customer service.
I, like many others here, never thought to own anything from Hi Point but, after watching how much fun my buddy was having with his 9MM 995 carbine, I had to get one. $250 later, I was having a blast. It was cheap, fun to shoot, and extremely inexpensive to deck out with all of the accessories just for the fun of it. It was unbelievably accurate for a sub-$300 gun and was way more reliable than I had been led to believe where Hi Points were concerned.
Then, the day came when it had a major breakdown. You have to understand that I probably had thousands of rounds through this thing at this point. I finished a magazine and the slide locked open... really locked open. I could not close it and, even after a complete disassemble and cleaning, I couldn't find the problem so I called Hi Point.
Less than 3 minutes later, I was off of the call with an RMA# and shipping address. 10 days later I had my gun back completely repaired. They had also replaced my front sight because it was damaged (I hadn't even noticed) and they even threw in a spare magazine and trigger lock for my trouble. It works great and looks like a brand new gun.
Normally, I am not prone to sing praises for customer service but I really feel they went out of their way to take care of my problem and did so in a timely manner. I have had some very poor customer service experiences with some of the higher end manufacturers so thought it would be great for people to hear about a very positive one from a company that normally doesn't seem to hip amongst the gun crowd.
