If you are using the FX 2, I would get the XS lever rail and use the Leupold 1" QRW low rings. Works very well for me. You can even buy the kit with the rail and iron sights. With the QRW rings you can take the scope off quickly and have good backup iron sights.

That's all that matters! How do you like the ghost ring setup? I planned on getting the xs scout rail along with the new variable leupold scout scope but I wasn't sold on backup irons yet.

Guys, you are really worrying me with all this quality talk. My heart was set on this gun but I didn't know Marlin had gone down the tubes : (. Maybe I'll have to rethink things. I mat just get a tikka t3. This so a bummer.

@rbernie it's not going to be on their website or in the custom shop section of the site. To get the scope you have to call leupold and specifically ask for it. It's 379.99 base plus 20.00 for the custom shop. I'm not sure when they will be putting it on the website. I agree it's worth the money...

The newly available leupold variable scout scope costs 399.99 from the custom shop. It is 1.25-5x power. Do you guys think it's worth the money? Is there another variable scout scope out there with good quality for a lower price?
