ClemBert we both made the same drop tube ....works mighty fine for 6 bucks doesn`t it .
I beleive I bought the parts needed at Lowels here , the copper tubeing was already cut at 24 inches ...real simple deal .
The stores around these parts are not allowed by law to keep real black powder on the shelves ...so you have to ask for it ...if they have it they have to store it in a special box in the back room .
Most have quit selling it because of this ..you can always get it on line at a better price...
only problem I can see it would be hard on the finish of the wood ...it would eat it off ...
and it might eat blueing off also ..
brake fulid is some stout stuff ...I would try it on a bad looking bore though when all else failed ...and I wasn`t worried about the blueing as much .
A+ for carrying a black powder load on horse back ..
I can shoot black powder on or around my horses and it doesn`t bother them at all ...
smokeless loads always spook them ......something about the sound waves from the smokeless .
when I shoot my black powder loads in the pasture my horses...
The Blue Book of black powder arms does say Colt contracted Iver Johnson to make them for a period of 4 years , 1979 to 82 I beleive ...I was thinking it was a longer period than that ...my mistake .
The Iver Johnson part of these Colts ...turns me off ..I`ve owned several of the Iver Johnson revolvers ..and can say they indeed build truck guns ...junk ..you can keep under the seat of your truck and not hurt a good revolver .
In this neck of the woods Iver Johnsons sell for 50 bucks on a...
Whats scarey to me is driveing down a 2 lane hwy doing 70 and meeting a Greyhound bus doing 70 ...much more damage than a 45 could ever inflect .
but I still drive and never complain .
When you clean a Colt 45 revolver ...how do you know you did a good job without looking down the muzzle ...
Now there`s an arguement #2 expel a projectile by means of an explosion ..
There are those on the forum that will argue that black powder doe not explode , (they say it just burns ) ...it sure burns loud doesn`t it ...ha ha ha
The kits like the Lyman are not near as difficult to finish as one of the Track of the wolf kits ..TVM supplys alot of their nicer kits , and are very difficult .
I have heard Track will do some of the work on the kit before they send it if you call and talk to them about ....like cutting...
The ASM Remingtons will also use the Pietta cylinders ...I swap them in mine all the time .
The Euro Arms Remingtons will swap with the Uberti Remington cylinders also .
Makes for good swaping out conversion cylinders ....
Cabelas sells one just like it made by Pietta ...I don`t think Uberti ever made one like that .
I see them on gunbroker used for 300.00 or so , this one is a tad high .
yep a rubber fridge magnet is good to carry to gunshows and such to check the frames ..there`s a lot of plated brass frame...
You should have looked under the loading lever ..thats where ASM hid their mark .
most of them are nickel plated brass frame guns . Some folks like `em ...I think they look like Pimp pistols .
BHP FAN ....haha it does kind of make you take a step back and say ..WHAT !
Maybe they haven`t shot both enough to see the difference .
When I take just my Colt Open Tops to the range , I don`t leave home with out my tool box ........ that was a lesson learned the hard way .
Words do change depending on where you are at ...I noticed while in Boston ..they eat Pee can pie ..down south we use pecans in our pie .
I always wondered how long they let the pee stay in the can before they cook it .
