I’ll play this game...
My lee 9mm sizing die started to stick really bad so I swapped the die for a Hornady I had as an extra. Well, for whatever reason that day I didn’t think the whole “set up your die depth” concept applied to me. I ran over 600 rounds with my sizing die backed off about 3-4...
I would drop 10% - 15% or so and see what happens. Magnum primers should not make too much difference but it’s better to back off too much than not enough in my opinion if that’s what you absolutely have to do. Times are tough so do what needs to be done to make a bang, just don’t make it a boom...
Here is a better pic of the hub.
I am using lee dies for bullet seating and crimp only because they were already set up, I changed the sizing due to a Hornady and it’s much smoother than the lee die. I’ll probably swap them all to the Hornady set now since I have the whole press torn apart...
I’m all sorted out. As usual Hornady customer service did me right even though there was a little hesitation. FYI for anyone who may need a warranty item, they are running a week to process the claim and “some days” to ship, that’s what she said anyway. I ended up paying $21 to overnight so the...
Yeah, I have enjoyed their customer service in the past. I have a competition this weekend I was in the process of loading for, never fails, you always break down at the most inconvenient time! I’ll hold out hope that they will over night me a part. At least I have figured out how to replace...
Well, I never thought this would happen. The drive hub for my shell plate on my lock n load just snapped off on the down stroke. Hopefully Hornady customer service will be as helpful now as they have in the past!
I have never personally tried it but I have a friend who shoots ipsc that used it for a bit. He seemed to like it. At a price of $150 for an 8 pound jug it would be with a shot. I would try it if I could find it around town without having to pay hazmat fees. With the fee it’s just as expensive...
50gr Vmax over 23.5gr H335 at 2.260 COAL, I spit “supposed” in quotes because you will never actually have the exact same load as referenced in any data unless you happen to have the exact same barrel, primer, and cases as referenced in said data. All of those things play a factor I assume so...
There are several loads of 22 hornet (the named cartridge in the “warning”)that push over 40k pressure. I’m using some pretty sound logic in believing my loads are considerably less than that. I wonder if they put that warning on there because most of the mid/upper end of load data for the 223...
.
Yeah, I’m tracking. I was honestly curious as to what would happen with them in that particular load. Best I can figure (I know there are lists of variables! Lol) my loads are around 40k on the pressure.
I recently bought 1k Remington 6 1/2 primers for $7 and decided to load them in an relatively light .223 bolt action load. This is the result to those primers. I know they are not “supposed” to be loaded for the 223 but my question is how bad is this type of pressure sign on the rifle bolt...
I load 124gr RN plated over 3.9 of 231 for ALL my 9mms. That load works for me in everything i have. Even got me a couple 500 scores in Glock shoots with it. I ONLY load for the range, too easy for a prosecutor to turn things around in a court room by saying something to the nature of "this man...
I would say its a good trade. 2 guns for one(you didn't want). I trade like that all the time then sell one of the two I traded for. Another plus is if you ever get tired of the 300BO you can also swap to a variety of calibers with a barrel and mag swap. I have some formed 300 brass from mixed...
RC will surely be missed! I wish I had a database of all the information he had to share. I always knew I could count on him with any question! Happy heavenly reloading RC!
