I agree. when you think that hunters have been taking elk and grizzly's for hundreds of years with muskets or thousands of years with bows? Kinda puts things in perspective
30-06 is a great round but don't you guys think that its a bit overkill for your standard deer. However I'm embarrassed that i forgot the 30-30. Obviously we could argue this forever since there are hundreds of cartridges but that obviously not what I'm asking. Of the rifle out there that are...
so now I'm curious how muzzle breaks work. It supposedly works off the same principle as barrel porting but I've seen a lot of these muzzle breaks that have all of the holes drilled straight not at an angle like on the ported barrels that you see. it seems like these wouldn't be very effective...
Looking at buying one of these two rifles. I've considered most all of the 30-06s
on the market and I have it narrowed down to these 2. ya know weatherby used to make top of the line rifles but now they outsource almost all of their work and try to call themselves an american company. If...
yeah i can tell you just from looking at these bullets that the scoring on the jackets are very aggressive thats the first thing I noticed when i opened the box
I've heard so much good stuff about the federal hst a bought a few boxes and looking at the bullets I'm curious how these keep from plugging when hitting clothing or other barriers. These always seem to expand consistently in tests that I've seen done but looking at the actual hollow point...
so I guess I understand what it does but i'm curious if anyone knows how it does it? It seems like if you're letting some of those gases escape then you'd be losing some pressure behind that bullet and thus some velocity.
Could somebody explain exactly how a ported barrel works. It's supposed to reduce recoil but it seems like it might reduce velocities. Could someone explain how porting works and how much it generally cost to have done on semi autos, revolvers, shotguns, etc.
so I get it that theres no "best bullet" I'm just wondering what the differences are between the two are they going to penetrate differently, are they going to expand differently, is the recoil different?
